You are Loved

Jesus loves you far more than you can ever fully know.

The first verse of one of our Christmas carols goes as follows:

Love came down at Christmas,

Love all lovely, Love divine,

Love was born at Christmas,

Star and angels gave the sign.

This was first published as a Christmas poem in 1885 by Christina Rossetti. The love spoken of in this carol is the love of God. But this love is not impersonal – God expressed his love for us supremely by coming to Earth himself and being born as a baby. God is love and he was born into the world as the baby Jesus. Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus two thousand years ago.

He was born as a baby. He grew up and worked as a carpenter. He taught great wisdom in engaging stories. He healed the sick and did amazing miracles. He showed his love in practical ways. He was falsely accused and condemned. He died for the sake of others. He rose from the grave. He is alive today. He brings hope to the hopeless.

Jesus said “I am the Light of the world” and he still brings light into the lives of men, women and children today. If you come along to our stall at the Christmas Market on Thursday 5th December then we will give you a free gift to bring a little light into your life and as a reminder that Jesus is the Light of the World – and there will be free Christmas story books for children too. Will you allow the light of Jesus to shine into your life this Christmas?

Everyone is welcome to come and celebrate Christmas with us at our Carol Services on Sunday 22nd December at 10:30am and 6:30pm. We will be singing familiar Christmas carols and remembering the true message of Christmas together. Each service lasts about an hour and is followed by tea/coffee and mince pies.
